Venice (space filler)

Post  TehGreatLorenzo on Sun Sep 11, 2011 1:02 pm

When 1.8 is released I plan to head out into the wilderness with a group of whoever wants to help and create Venice. The area should be rather large and will have blocks of about 20x20 blocks all seperated by 5x wide waterways. The architecture will be based around 1500 Italien buildings and there will be an shop instead of a market (as in indoor), a lodge for newcomers, and a 4 block town centre (4 20x20 'blocks' which are still seperated by water) with bridges connecting each one at every corner. If you would like to be involved in this project please leave a message.

Edit: Due to the new food and hunger bar in the town centre there shall be a store entirely dedicated to food, a restraunt if you will. We can make use of the new fence-Pressure Pad combo then for tables. Also we could have 'boat stations' with ladders that lead down to little (2x1) docks in the water where you can buy a boat to travel around.

Edit: the town centre will have a centre parish with 8 blocks surrounding it, 4 of which with space for a total of 16 houses for the builders and people who donate to the server and construction of Venice

I was just going to make a standard water farm to provide players with food. Ideally it will be under ground (though it's more work animals won't trample the fields). Alternatively I could build a mushroom farm (much slower but better food).

Well if we were to have a small wheat farm (enough to support the store) and a larger mushy farm that could work. We could also give out the job of a hunter to anyone who is willing to mindlesly smash pigs and chickens in the face.

We also need someone who can oversee the gathering of materials for the waterways and paths, because as an extra I was thinking about lining the waterways and paths with cobble and having a strip of smooth stone run around the edges

I can sort us out with cobble and stone. I have plenty of it at the minute.

  1. Maybe we won't lose stuff.
  2. Use a pickaxe and make a new branch mine.

Also what do you guys think, build in the sea so we dont have to build the waterways which will probably be harder, or add the water artificially through use of buckets (I have a method for doing this on 3x or more wide waterways)

Bear in mind the bukkit version might come out on friday or something so we can only start then, and also if anyone from America finds that I'm a bit late, its because I will be at school until 10 am for you guys, but I doubt any of you might be on then anyway.

Although finding and ocean may be problematic, it may save time in the long run because then we dont need to fill in the water ways
